October 2016 Hamas government

The Hamas government of October 2016 is the Gaza-based faction of the Palestinian government and is a “de facto” third Hamas-dominated government in the Gaza Strip since the Hamas takeover of Gaza from the Palestinian National Authority in 2007. On 17 October 2016, the Supreme Administrative Committee, which is in charge of the conduct of the ministries in Gaza, reshuffled the active ministries and changed the positions of 16 Deputy Ministers and Directors-General in government institutions. The government in Gaza consists of Deputy Ministers, Directors-General and other high-level officials, not directly bound to the Ramallah administration. It was initially speculated that the formation of the 2016 Hamas government was an attempt by Ismail Haniyeh to return to full Hamas control of Gaza. As part of the government reform, it was decided to abolish the Ministry of Planning.
