It doesn’t look like an Atlantis or Venice sinking into the open water anymore. Ferries are servicing Ward’s Island, Centre Island and Hanlan’s Point terminals once again. And gone are the sandbags, which, duing last year’s flooding, created a war-time look. The sound of pumps trying to keep up with rising Lake Ontario water levels is not as prevalent. This year the water is in the lake and not covering the parks, benches and pathways. The canoes in the yards will not float away, there’s no escaped peacock flying around or fish swimming with the bikes and school buses. The Toronto Islands are back.
